Wed. Night Race!

Wahhh Hoooo! Or wait that was Wahhh OUCH! Holy crap my legs were tired tonight. I had a great gym workout with Keith last night, not super intense but very specific. My legs are not overly sore today just tired...that was until a 200lb steel fence fell on me! It smoked me in the calf muscle and *&%$ that really sucked. I think I may be having a hard time walking tomorrow.

All things considered racing went fairly well for me tonight. The team is not really working together during the weekly races. We are all trying to gain fitness not work everyone else over. We are the dominant team on the track so we decided to race for ourselves for training purposes.

The first race was a 40-lap Point A Lap race where the rider who crosses the finish line first each lap receives a point. The rider with the most laps wins. While riding hard and doing many laps at 50km/h-52km/h I managed a 2nd place. Not to bad.

The next race was an Unknown distance race, meaning just that. You don't know how many laps you will be riding. All of a sudden the bell rings and that means the end is on the finish of the next lap. While I feel there are only 2 ways of winning this race. 1. You attack and try to stay away until the bell lap or 2. Sit in the pack and hope that you can win the bunch sprint and another rider does not get away with option 1. Unfortunately I choose the wrong way tonight. I attacked and stayed away for many laps with another rider but alas, we were caught and when the bell rang I was in the wrong position to contest the sprint. I think I was 5th.

Finally the final race was a race called the Burnaby Velodrome Elimination to Scratch race. Every two laps the last rider gets pulled from the race until only half of the field is remaining. At that point basically the first rider to cross the finish line wins the race after the set distance has been obtained. BANGERRANG!!! I won this race.

So in all not a bad night of racing but...It already hurts to walk :P We will see how I feel from the AM workout!

Live long and prosper!
